With a long history of leadership in the paper industry, Pixelle delivers the most comprehensive portfolio of specialty papers to help you meet today's challenging demands Job Description Under direction of Team Leader, Product/Development Engineer, or other authorized person, performs routine analyses and physical tests related to pulp and paper manufacture; performs pilot and mill studies as directed; maintains permanent records of work and calculations; performs other related or comparable duties as directed.
Role and Responsibilities Performs routine chemical analyses on various material using prescribed chemical apparatus and procedures.
Performs routine physical tests on pulp and paper samples according to outlined procedures.
Uses instruments and equipment located in Engineered Products Department as directed.
Sets up equipment and apparatus for pilot or mill studies as directed.
Assists in mill and pilot studies during regular hours as well as on a shift schedule or irregular hours, as needed and directed.
Collects samples as directed and labels properly.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date laboratory notebooks according to prescribed department policy.
Makes simple calculations on data collected.
Develops information processing skills, including computer entry of data.
Becomes familiar with advanced skill areas as assigned.
Instructs and assists others in performance of above activities and duties in own particular work areas.
Performs miscellaneous routine duties assigned by department head or supervisor.
Maintains good housekeeping and safe work practices.
EP lab technicians can also be assigned Sample Room duties and need to perform the following tasks as necessary:
Gathering, trimming, and shipping out-turn requests for customers Mail sorting Refilling sample drawers Performs other related or comparable duties as directed.
Qualifications High School Diploma / G.
E.
D.
Equivalent Successful completion of courses in HS chemistry, physics, and four years of math, including algebra and geometry OR equivalent.
Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel Ability to understand and follow laboratory plans Good written and verbal communication skills Regular, dependable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Additional Information Pay starts at $25.
